  • Doctor in Medicine, specialized in Psychiatry, he was trained as a Psychotherapist by Vittorio Guidano and founded the first Italian School of Cognitive-Interpersonal Psychotherapy. The Cognitive-Interpersonal model developed by Prof T. Cantelmi was approved by the Italian Ministry of Higher Education and Research (MIUR, see www.cognitivo-interpersonale.it).
  • Prof. Tonino Cantelmi has been the first researcher in Italy to work on the impact of digital technology on the human mind
    (Internet Dipendenza, www.wikipedia.it) and together with Dr. Emiliano Lambiase  founded Ce.Dis. (Sexual Addiction Study Centre). He is currently responsible for the research project “Depression and Cancer”, approved  by the Ethical Committee and by the Scientific Director of the Oncological Institute “Regina Elena” in Rome.
  • He is the Scientific  Director of the magazine “Modelli per la Mente” (Models of the Mind) (CIC Edizioni Internazionali, Roma) and takes part in the Board of Directors of several scientific magazines.
  • He wrote about 190 scientific publications, more than 20 books and has been an invited speaker at about 200 scientific meetings. He edited the Manual of Cognitive and Interpersonal Psychotherapy (ALPES, 2009).
  • Chief  Psychiatrist in the Italian NHS since 1995: Currently Chief Psychiatrist at the Istituti Fisioterapici Ospitalieri in Rome;
    formerly Chief Psychiatrist at the Centre for Mental Health in
    Pontecorvo and Colleferro, at the SPDC (Diagnosis and Treatment
    Psychiatric Service) of the Nuovo Regina Margherita Hospital; formerly responsible of the Centre for Diagnosis and Treatment of Panic Attack
    Disturbances, at ASL RM A.
  • He is an academic teacher. Currently  Professor of Psychopathology (Professore Incaricato) at the Institute  of Psychology of Università Gregoriana and at “Regina Apostolorum”  University in Rome.
  • He teaches in various Master classes and post-graduate courses at the European University and at the Catholic  University in Rome. He
    coordinates the Psychiatric Area at the Scuola MedicaOspedaliera (Hospital Medical School) of Regione Lazio.
  • He has been a teacher of Developmental Psychopathology at
    LUMSA University and of Psychofisiology at Università Salesiana in Rome. He has also taught at the Specialisation Schools in Psychiatry at La Sapienza University in Rome and at Palermo University, as well as in several Psychotherapy
    Institutes.
